The ROOTS Lab: Resilience-Oriented Outcomes & Technique for Stronger families

We aim to conduct research that improves the health and resilience of racially minoritized families to contribute to a more equitable society.

Who We Are

We are a group of researchers, students, and health professionals who are committed to using evidence-based prevention strategies to improve the health and well-being of families of color. We are guided by our shared values of respect, curiosity, integrity, partnership, and social justice. By fostering a culture of curiosity and collaboration, we strive to make meaningful contributions to academia, healthcare, and society as a whole.

What We Do

We use a mix of methodologies (e.g., quantitative, qualitative) to advance the understanding and prevention of the negative effects of adversity for minoritized families. From fundamental research assessing risk and protective processes to testing the effectiveness and delivery of family-based interventions, we strive to address some of the most pressing health challenges facing our world today.
